From the inside

How to include, welcome, work, celebrate, archive
…or how to rejuvenate the life of a town hall?

context
We cleared out the space, the existing functions and furniture, to approach the renovation requirements with a clean slate, offering new spaces and forms on the inside. Our mission: to upgrade to current standards, create a sustainable acoustic environment, change the way the Council team works, recycle furniture, create colours and provide access to everyone. The end result: users were reconciled with this neglected public space, and with the public service.

challenge
In close collaboration with energy engineers, we went far beyond thermal renovation of the building. We struck the best possible balance between the available budget, savings on maintenance and user comfort, and we made use of regional subsidies that promote low-carbon buildings.
