Into the cliff
How to achieve a scenic view without imposing on the scenery?
context
A long, slow ramp carved into the stone follows the cliff line, ending in a 240 m2 oyster bar.
challenge
The architectural volumes are perfectly integrated with the mineral aspect of the surroundings and with the vegetation that forms the setting, opening out generously from the deck onto a broad scenic view: the stream of Berder Island in the Gulf of Morbihan (similar to the Bay of Islands).
A stone basement alternated with planted areas forms the ramp, the concrete walls retain the backfill, large glazed sliding walls face the wood decking, and a green roof forms a continuum with the garden.
